Information:

The magnificent Chiswick House is a neo-Palladian villa, built in the early 18th century by the third Earl of Burlington, who designed it in the style of a classical Roman villa. The Italian style extends to the glorious gardens. Situated in Burlington Lane, Chiswick is about six miles west of central London and a Grade I listed house that's one of Britain's favourite stately homes. The house's sumptuous interior, with its colourful 'velvet' rooms that connect with a breath-taking domed central saloon, is open to the public. Guided tours can be booked in advance, but those who just want to browse can visit in April, when it's open daily between 10am and 5pm, and on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May to November. The gardens are open daily from 7am to dusk all year round. Buses 190 and E3 serve Chiswick House. The nearest Underground station is Turnham Green.
