Information:
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain is sited in the south-west corner of Hyde Park, and was designed to express the spirit of the popular and accessible Princess. Constructed of Cornish granite, the fountain is one of London's most popular attractions, with an estimated one million visitors each year. Designed by American landscape architect, Kathryn Gustafson, and opened by the Queen in 2004, the fountain is effectively a large oval stream bed. Water is pumped from the highest point of the fountain and flows in two directions to a tranquil pool below. One side is smooth, whilst the other is made up of a number of steps and turns reflecting the duality of the doomed Princess Diana. The memorial is easily accessed by public transport with the number 9, 10, 52, 360 and the 452 bus stopping close by. Knightsbridge and South Kensington are the nearest London Underground stations.
