Information:
Drury Lane is the city's traditional entertainment hub, and it traverses two London boroughs, the City of Westminster to the south and Camden to the north. The street is part of the Covent Garden area, and houses two significant West End theatres, the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, reputed to be the oldest playhouse in London, and the New London Theatre. Drury Lane was notorious for its gin palaces, dodgy public houses and ladies of the night, and it wasn't long before it had earned the reputation as one of the worst slums in London. In the twentieth century, however, the area was cleared to make way for new residential and commercial developments. The closest Underground stops are Covent Garden on the Piccadilly Line, Holborn on the Central Line and Temple on the Circle and District lines, whereas Charing Cross is the closest station. Over 25 bus routes service the area.
