The Electric Ballroom has rocked the heart of Camden Town in London for more than 70 years, serving as a hip and happening entertainment venue with a weekend market selling fashion music related items. Initially, it opened as an Irish club, part of a chain of ballrooms across England that became meeting places for young Irish couples. After a refurbishment in 1938, the venue began attracting some of the hottest music acts and performers around, and it still draws huge crowds that fill its three storeys, dance floors and four bars on club nights. Friday nights are designated 'Sin City', when rock and alternative music pervades the Ballroom, making cage dancers gyrate. Saturdays are 'Shake' events dedicated to pop, hip-hop and R and B. The Electric Ballroom is at 184 Camden High Street. The nearest Underground station is Camden Town, and the venue is on close to 20 bus routes.
