Information:
Housed in a striking pink and orange building in Bermondsey, south-east London, The Fashion and Textile Museum is a beacon on the London fashion scene. Renowned British designer, Zandra Rhodes - known for her passion for pink - founded it in a purpose-built building designed by Mexican architect, Ricardo Legorreta. The museum contains a permanent exhibition showcasing British fashion, textile and jewellery design from the 1950s onwards. It also features ever-changing specialist exhibitions highlighting the work of iconic British designers. The Museum, operated by Newham College, fulfils the function of a design academy and runs courses for creative students. There is also a cafe and shop. The shop supports young up-and-coming designers, and offers a great range of items. The museum and shop open daily from 11am to 5pm, and the shop Wednesdays to Sundays 11am to 5pm. Hop on the Underground Northern or Jubilee lines and alight at London Bridge station.
