Information:
The Greenwich Heritage Centre was established in 2003, and is a combination of significant archaeological, geological and natural history collections from the Greenwich Borough Museum and the local history library. Based in an attractive 19th-century building on the site of the ancient Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, South London, the museum offers a range of services, including an array of temporary exhibitions and research facilities where it's possible to trace your local family tree. An enduring highlight is a free exhibition covering the history of the Royal Arsenal and the Royal Woolwich Dockyard. Regular illustrated talks are also held, covering important eras in England's history, such as the Romans, Tudors, Victorians and World War II. The museum is easily accessed via a number of public transport options. Twelve bus routes service Woolwich, and regular overland trains run between London Bridge, Charing Cross and Cannon Street Stations, and the Woolwich Arsenal Station.
