Information:
The Guildhall Library is situated in the historic heart of London and is a public reference library specialising in subjects relevant to the City of London. Founded under the terms of the will of the Lord Mayor of London, Dick Whittington, over 590 years ago, the library is divided into three primary sections - printed books, maps and drawings, manuscripts and prints. As parts of the collection date back to the 11th century, many of the pieces have been designated as having national and international importance. The archives of the Diocese of London and St Paul's Cathedral are significant parts of the collection, which covers a range of subjects, including local history, family history, English law, wine and food, clocks and clockmakers and marine history. The centre of London is notoriously congested, so the easiest way to get to the Guildhall Library is by London Underground, with Moorgate the closest stop.
