Information:

Nobly filling an entire block on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London, Harrods is the world's most famous department store, with 15 million shoppers passing through its doors every year. Britons and tourists alike come to browse through the myriad luxury goods in this store, which is a study in superlatives. It covers 4.15 acres of space across seven floors, with more than 330 departments. Renowned for its Food Halls, Harrods was founded in1849 when grocer, Charles Henry Harrod, opened a one-room shop on the site. In 2010, the Egyptian entrepreneur, Mohammed Al Fayed, sold the store to Qatar Holdings for £1.5 billion after owning it for 25 years. Harrods continues to be the haunt of the rich and famous, including Britain's Royal Family. The tube station closest to Harrods is Knightsbridge, on the Piccadilly line, and it is now in the London Congestion Charge zone, so public transport is recommended.
