Information:

Water is our lifeblood, and forms the focus of Kew Bridge Steam Museum, which is on the site of the original Kew Bridge Pumping Station, opened in 1838. This internationally recognised museum is the most important remaining example of a pumping station in the UK. It harbours the world's largest collection of steam-driven pumping engines, many of which are still in working order, and are switched on for the delight of visitors every weekend. The Museum also illustrates how London's water supply evolved from Roman times to the present day, and offers rides on London's only remaining steam railway, on Sundays between April and October. Kew Bridge Steam Museum is just north of Kew Bridge, operated by an independent educational charity, open every day except Mondays. Take the Underground District Line to Gunnersbury station, then hop bus 237 or 267 to Kew Bridge, or Kew Gardens station, then bus 391.
