Information:
London City Airport is situated across from the London Regatta Centre, east of the city in the Borough of Newham. It was built in 1988, on what was once a Docklands' site, and its runway is designed for short take off and landing (STOL) aircraft. It mainly serves business travellers visiting London's financial district, and it was the fifth busiest London airport in 2009. Its popularity with leisure travellers is increasing, however, especially in winter, when many people use it to fly to ski destinations. The airport provides its passengers with free WiFi, which is available in the Business Centre and throughout the terminal. The Docklands Light Railway links the airport to Canary Wharf's new financial quarter, with a London Underground interchange. Next to the terminal building is London City Airport DLR station, whose elevated platforms have enclosed access. London Bus services also provide transport to and from the airport.
