Information:

Celebrating Britain's links with all things nautical, the National Maritime Museum actually comprises three historic sites in Greenwich, to the east of central London. Greenwich has links with the sea, maritime trade and navigational astronomy going back to earliest times. The National Maritime Museum includes the Royal Observatory, home of Greenwich Mean Time, where visitors can straddle the Prime Meridian Line that has marked time since 1884. Then there are the Maritime Galleries and the Queen's House - marine art exhibition. Altogether, the Museum contains two million or so items - from maps, manuscripts and art works to astronomical instruments and model ships. All three sections of the National Maritime Museum are open from 10am to 5pm daily, with free admission. The best way to travel to the Museum is on the Docklands Light Railway, alighting at the Cutty Sark station. The Royal Observatory is atop a steep walk through Greenwich Park.
