Named for the acclaimed British playwright, composer and actor, Noel Coward, who made his West End debut here in 1920 in his own play, I'll Leave it to You, the Noel Coward Theatre has an established record for excellence on the London theatre scene. Opened on St Martin's Lane in Westminster in 1903, as the New Theatre, it was renamed the Albery Theatre in 1973, before being attributed to Noel Coward after a refurbishment in 2006. The likes of John Gielgud, Lawrence Olivier, Dame Edith Evans, Vanessa Redgrave and Diana Rigg have trodden the boards in this grand old theatre, which seats 872 on four levels and is a listed building. It continues to present popular productions to enthralled audiences. The Noel Coward Theatre is just 100 metres from Leicester Square Underground station, and close to Charing Cross rail station. Buses 24, 29, 176 stop close by for convenient access.
