Information:
This important through road in London's City of Westminster boasts some 548 shops, making it the busiest shopping road in Europe. Well-known shops include Marks & Spencer, Moss Bros, John Lewis and Selfridges. Oxford Street was once a section of the London-Oxford Road, which started at the City of London's Newgate area, and back then it was called Oxford Road. It's about one and a half miles long, and runs from Marble Arch, at Hyde Park's north-eastern corner, to St Giles' Circus, via Oxford Circus. At this point it turns into New Oxford Street before it enters High Holborn. Regent Street, Park Lane and New Bond Street intersect with it. The Central Line runs under Oxford Street, with Bakerloo, Northern, Victoria and Jubilee London Underground lines, in addition to numerous bus routes. The tube stations that serve Oxford Street are Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Marble Arch and Oxford Circus.
