Information:

Branded 'The World's Largest Antiques Market', the Portobello Road Market is a popular tourist attraction and a veritable treasure trove with a range of collectibles and artefacts dating from Roman times all the way through to the modern era. Situated in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in West London, Portobello Road is an integral part of the famous Notting Hill district. With rather inauspicious beginnings as a fresh-food market in the 19th century, the Portobello Road Market has evolved into a major antiques' hub, with Saturday being the major trading day of the week. Dealers buy and sell virtually anything under the sun, from genuine, rare antiquities to Art Deco collectibles. Reputed to be over 3,000 feet in length, visitors are encouraged to visit the information booth at the junction of Portobello Road and Westbourne Grove. Ladbroke Grove, Holland Park and Notting Hill are the closest Underground stations.
