Information:
Situated in London's West End, the Prince Charles Cinema was officially opened in 1962, first as a theatre, then as a porn venue that boasted the longest-ever run of Emmanuelle, and finally as a revival house or repertory cinema specialising in classic, art-house and cult films. The upper galleries, once part of the 17th-century museum of curiosities, Holophusikon, are reputed to be haunted by a ghost who has apparently cleaned up the stalls on more than one occasion. Another significant feature of the acclaimed cinema is the canopy, which often boasts obscure messages and cult film quotes. The venue of regular sing-a-long versions of popular musicals, including Joseph, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Sound of Music, the Prince Charles Cinema is situated north of Leicester Square and is within walking distance of the London Underground stations; Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus, and 20 bus routes stop close by.
