Information:
Established in 1884, the Prince of Wales Theatre is situated in London's West End, in a building listed Grade II by English Heritage. Over the years, the popular venue has hosted a range of entertainment, from musical comedies to plays and, in the 1930s, risque Folies-style revues, which proved so popular that they literally funded the reconstruction of the theatre. Reborn in the Art Deco style, the theatre's capacity was increased to over 1,000 seats. Over the years, seasoned stars, including renowned beauty and the former lover of Edward VII, Lily Langtry, Gracie Fields and Mae West made their appearances on the stage, and, in 1941, the theatre screened the UK premiere of Charlie Chaplin's contentious film, The Great Dictator. Refurbished again in 2004, the theatre re-opened with the hit musical, Mamma Mia! The nearest London Underground station is Piccadilly Circus, whereas the closest national railway station is Charing Cross.
